The iPad 2 is overall amazing, but the camera is horrendous. I expected it to not be great, but there is grain everywhere. Really bad. Oh well. Otherwise, the new iPad is outstanding and extremely fast.

We already knew this. And why would you take picture width it?

It's just cameras for FaceTime

The cameras are meant for video not pictures. They aren't iPhone 4 standard. The back camera can take 720p but takes 1 megapixel stills. The front camera records VGA video and takes VGA photos. It's a tablet not a camera.

14 day return policy in general - but if you got the "aweful! Camera Edition" - 90 days - Congrats.

glad my xoom has higher MP than the iPad2.

i can also view the display under heavy light, unlike the iPad2.

but the iPad2 is thinner, lighter, and cheaper.

Welcome to fanboy excuses

excuses, excuses, excuses, excuses

Very Lame That's For Sure.

What do you mean view it under heavy light? The xooms display seems as if not more reflective than the iPads. Plus I wouldn't buy a tablet for cameras.

From what I understand it's not even true 720p as it's only 920px wide or something like that.

i'm an iPad1 owner, and now a xoom owner as well.

go outside with your iPad1/2, its very difficult to see the screen outdoors.

with the xoom im able to clearly see the display. at first i was disapointed in the xoom's display quality, but being able to read the display outdoors with no problems is making me stay on the xoom

Fair enough the xoom just seems really reflective when I saw it.

"Aweful"

"aweful": full of awe. Guess that means the camera really was good. LOL
Sorry, I couldn't resist . . no offense to the original poster was intended

So you title the thread with the least important factor as being awful, but then turn around and praise the important as if it was an aside?

Glad it's an awesome device and you're happy with it.

I water on line and when I was in the store the genius suggested while he was getting my iPad to look at the disposed ones. I did and the camera was awesome, I got home and opened it up and played with the cameras and they were not the same quality but still good. Even while typing this everything is faster I'm very happy.

For me a camera is worthless in these devices. Sure, a front facing one for video conferencing fine. But seriously, who the hell wants to be taking pictures with a tablet?

It's weird, these tablets are "tweener" devices. They are caught between mobile phones and laptops so they stuff mobile phone features into them. To me they are just too big for cameras. It's silly.

Are people really planing on taking pictures with the iPad? I thought it was manly meant for FaceTime
