Write Applescript Folder Action to Empty Folder on regular Basis

I am fairly new to applescript and folder actions in general, but I am hoping to write a new folder action so that my downloads folder will automatically empty itself on say a weekly basis. If anybody could advise me on this it would be much appreciated.

OR

maybe there is a much easier way to do this and I am just incompetent
