for a proper comparison he should have multiple phones with different and the same capacity to do a legit test. this is just one situation. so its lame.

Interesting....
Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see. iPhone 7 Plus 128GB using the same app and just running the benchmarks multiple times to get (as expected) varied results:

way to go for the buzzfeed angle.

It's a well known fact that smaller ssds run slower than larger capacity ssds. Same principle applies here. Nothing to see folks, move along.

It's Unbox Therapy, what did you expect? He's not a very smart guy at all to say the least.

I sort of enjoy his well produced videos (at least the one's I've seen, which is not a lot mind you) but this one is just screaming "I need the clicks!"

There are several threads on this already. I am fairly sure no one would notice the difference. Guys like him just cause problems.

Yeah, I mean, he's only got close to 6.5 million YouTube subscribers, probably only nets a few million dollars a year off ad revenue and who knows how much off sponsorships. What an idiot!

This pretty much. That said, those speeds seem like there's some RAM caching going on. RAM caching would explain the inconsistent results.

That's insane. I have never subscribed to a YouTuber. Never will.

Why even have SATs and grading at universities? Surely YouTube subscriber count is a superior intelligence metric, right!?!?!

Please. Just please.

The point is, he's clearly not an idiot, because he knows his audience, how to manipulate emotion and get posts like this which generate more views. He's absolutely crushing it and good for him -- he put in the work. Does that mean he's qualified to make rockets or perform brain surgery? Yeah, probably not.

Going $100K or more in student debt for a glorified metric like an SAT only to get a $40K/yr job is hardly "intelligent", yet that's vastly the academic norm these days. Exceptions to that of course.

youtube fame doesnt last forever.

Yeah, I'd gladly accept 6 months of that fame invested in a moderate 401K over a 20 year period. ;)
Max you can contribute in 1 year to a Solo 401k is just $53K. That's not gonna amount to sufficient funds for retirement after 20 years worth of inflation. That said, you can always invest the rest of earnings in a normal brokerage account. Nice thing is qualified dividends and long term capital gains receive favorable tax treatment (0% tax for AGI up to the 15% tax bracket). ;)

Yes, you understand what I'm getting at. :)

Universities are a bunch of bs anyways
These viewpoints are sad and are undoubtedly part of the reason why I'm terrified for the new generation (and their kids).

Based on where this discussion has lead, some thoughts...

If you're basining one's intelligence on wealth you've probably already concluded Trump is the best person to have ever run for presidency. By that metric alone.

I rest my case.

The more kids don't go the cheaper it will be for my son lol. I'm all for that. Bring back schools that can be paid for by summer jobs. :)
