Writing chinese?

What's the cheapest way to write chinese in OS X? I tried fiddling aroung with Textedit but at least can't figure out how to write.

Never mind, I found the way! It's easy, just enable the ability to write chinese in control panel under "localisation" and then you get access to write chinese system wide. That's pretty amazing if you ask me.

btw using Tiger on Intel.
