after a couple of failed attempts to format the ipod HD on a mac, the second time the drive detected as being 114gb, up from the 82.6gb it was reporting before. (the drive is a 20gb toshiba).

my plan is use one of these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RARE-iPod-1-8...ryZ16178QQssPageNameZWD2VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

connect it to the PC and hope that it zeros OK with any old PC util that does it. put it back in the ipod and then work about partitioning it.

will this work? is there any flaws in the my plan?

can the 3 ipod partitions be made on the pc using a certain program?

thanks
