Wrong firmware selected iphone

HI guys

My i phone 3G (not 3G(S)) is running os 3.1.2 and i would like to upgrade to The new os 4.0.

I follow all the steps in video tutorials and articles, but just cant get it to work.

My problem is this

i download pwnage tool 4.01 and install it.Then the ispw file With fire fox. iPhone1,2_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw.

Then i open pwage tool and go to select ispw file and it comes up with (WRONG FIRM WARE SELECTED) ?

as far as i can see i have downloaded the Correct firm ware?

Install the firmware you want (4.0, 4.0.1) then use the Redsn0w beta to jailbreak it.

That would solve the Jailbreak but will not unlock the phone? is that correct?

i use this iphone 3g on a day to day bases.

Any other Thoughts?

If you need to unlock, just run Ultrasn0w from Cydia once the phone is jailbroken.

Go to iClarified for a tutorial.
