I woke up this morning and my iPhone showed the screen with the cable and iTunes logo telling me to plug it in. I plugged it in, and iTunes said it was in recovery mode and needed to be restored. I tried to restore it, and it gave me an unknown error. I don't know how it got in recovery mode, it was working fine last night. But now, I can't use my phone at all. What's wrong here? Thanks

Try sticking it in DFU and restore:

1. hold home & power for 10 seconds
2. on 10, let go of the power button and keep holding home for 10 seconds.
3. iTunes will see it and try to restore.

sticking it in DFU might get you past that error message.

Nope. Didn't work. I think it's already in DFU mode. I have no idea how it got in DFU mode though.

Just got back from the Apple Store. They had no idea WTF was wrong either so they exchanged it for me. Let's hope this one works for longer than 2 months.
