I've had my iPhone since release date and it's been 'OK' with the battery power.

But today something incredibly strange happened.

USAGE TIME: 34 mins
STANDBY TIME: 13 Hours
BATTERY LEVEL: 3%!!!!!! (from a full in the wall 100% charge)

Only 1 app was open the ENITRE time that was the phone (for 1 2 min call that I made).

No other apps were open at the time.

I'm at a loss at what might has caused the battery to go down so significantly.

Oh and WIFI OFF, 3G off, Data on fetching around 3 email accounts on EDGE. Auto-turn off set to default 1min.

What you do think? has my diamond suddenly turned into a lemon?

P.S. I've also taken a pic of usage stats if there is a demand for it.

I would just try re-starting the phone and see if it happens again. I had a fluke like that on my 3GS a couple of times before, not on my IP4 yet though.

With the info you've given it sounds like a software glitch and/reporting error. A full restore might straighten this out. If you tried to return your phone to Apple they would have you do a restore as well. Give it a shot.

I'll bet you a nickel it solves your problem.

EDIT: Yeah, you could restore from iTunes backup.

OK buddy, I turned the phone off and plugged it in the wall charge.

I'll try and see if the restart works tomorrow, if not, i'll restore.

Either way i'll keep this thread updated...

theres so many things it could be so a re set could work, i might do one tomoro to be honest.

I was wondering though, if it's a software glitch should I even do a backup before a restore? the backup might end-up containing the glitch that caused it in the first place.

I am a little uncertain about exactly what is backed up and what is made fresh with a full restore.

It definitely did not get a workout today and it performed terribly.

When I heavy use it is usually 40% by end of the day (5-6 hours Usage time).

ANyway, I'm doing a reboot, see if that works, if not, a restore, if not, a replacement (if I can get a new one in the UK) or a refund (and Ill come back later).

It's a bit strange because when i got my 3GS everything just worked and I mean everything.

Oh well... it might give me an excuse to deal with the yellow tinted warmer coloured display.

the battery level indicator is actually built into the battery, it could just be reporting incorrectly, run it dead, keep turning it on till it dies until it won't turn on anymore, then charge it to full and it will reset the indicator
