Another forum member (JayJayAbels) was discussing the possibility of retina displays this year with me and he pointed out the WWDC 2012 logo. I have to admit that I never looked at it properly when WWDC was first announced, but if you take a good look at it, it seems that it's really hinting at (retina) displays.

What do you think?

Not sure how different varying size squares can mean retina (i kinda lack imagination), but now that i think about it, you might be onto something.

This might've been an insightful post if there weren't several articles on the main page stating that the MacBook Pro is pretty much definitely getting the retina display at WWDC.

I think it's interesting, it's always nice seeing this, apple are very clever at doing leaving behind these cryptic clues.

Could just be icons in many colors… you know the square icons Apple likes to use in iOS?

True, but all of these rumours are based on one story from 9to5 and are citing unnamed sources. This is something tangible. Besides, Apple love being cryptic with hints and it's fun to speculate. It sure beats work.

I've done the analysis of these "rumours" in another thread with a pretty picture:

Is this like one of those ink blot tests?

I see a giraffe in a boat :)

I saw a naked woman first, but now I am seeing displays/pixels.

None of the retina display articles are backed up. There is no evidence right now.

As for the logo, I can see how, but it is entirely possible that it could also represent further iCloud integration, and/or further mixing of iOS/OS X features (Mountain Lion), though we've of course already seen the latter.
