Apple yesterday announced the winners of its Swift Student Challenge, and as promised, winners have started to receive WWDC 2021 swag as a prize.

Here's a photo of the exclusive outerwear shared by the developer behind Chain Reaction Games:

The annual Swift Student Challenge is a coding challenge that tasks students with creating an interactive scene in the Swift Playgrounds app. Apple said winners would receive exclusive WWDC 2021 outerwear, which appears to consist of a beanie and a pullover sweater.

Winners also received a set of WWDC 2021 pins, including the Finder icon on Mac, a "Make it beta" message bubble, and others, plus a one-year Apple Developer Program membership if they have reached the age of majority in their country.

WWDC 2021 begins next Monday, June 7 with a Keynote at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Apple is expected to unveil major new software updates, including iOS 15, iPadOS 15, macOS 12, watchOS 8, and tvOS 15. Read our WWDC 2021 roundup for more details.

It would have been so easy for them to make the "2" a continuous line segment. Apple's design is doomed /s

It took me a while to realise 'Make it beta' only works in an American accent... but a pun even Federighi would be proud of!

Their stuff has been beta since 10.7. I don't have much hope that they'll un **** themselves any time soon.
It's so weird you say that because whenever the subject comes up of when I think software quality went downhill, I mention with 10.7. I'm not sure if you mean 10.7 itself or after 10.7. For me it was 10.7 itself, which I think is the last one Bertrand Serlet worked on. Yosemite was by far the worst. That's when I became a "developer" in name only to start submitting bug reports to Apple. I remember on Yosemite the whole machine would crash if I switched WiFi points, and Apple engineers had to have me SSH into the Mac to do a sysdiagnose while it was happening (remember I am not a developer and all of that was new to me). I've stayed on 10.12 because I haven't wanted to mess with a new file system, but 10.12 still has a janky Console and Disk Utility. I have an old Mac mini with Mavericks that actually is more stable and that I have to use for partitioning disks because 10.12 is just a mess with that.

They're too successful to improve.

I really wonder why Apple doesn't do brand swag like other companies do.

I remember seeing an Apple bike jersey on ebay like decades ago, back when they were selling swag, and I even have an Apple shirt around here somewhere (if it hasn't been tossed by the wife) It's a 'little 'snug, being a medium.

But they did all the usual swag, for those not aware. I actually still have a cordura Apple swag notebook shoulder carry bag. I just loved it so, I couldn't see tossing it. I've got a couple pins, and an 'Apple Euro II' system placard, and some POS end cap plastic inserts. Bunch of stuff.

I'd like to get an Apple bike jersey. What could be more awesome than riding a hideously expensive bike wearing the jersey of a generally really expensive computer brand. I passed on the Microsoft one when I was out there a few years ago. It looked like someone ate a bunch of brown tone paint splotches and barfed them up on a paper bag, really awful...

I’m looking outside at the palm trees in the 108 degree weather thinking, “wow, what a great beanie. I wish I had one of those.”

I can tell I have not had my coffee yet this morning. I saw the 21 on the t-shirt and immediately started to think “oh, wonder what that is hinting at? What secret message?” It took an embarassingly long time for that light bulb to go on.
What's the secret message? I seriously cant see or think of any secret message....

I cannot tell if you are being sarcastic or simply need the coffee more than I did this morning.

It took me awhile to figure out that the "21" was actually the year. It possibly took me a while because 2020 was such a disaster I am still on an extended 2019 in my brain. Hope that helps or at least has given you an additional laugh.

Oh, so it's just the year. I actually thought you saw a big hint that I somehow missed. Lol.

I thought you saw a hint that the next macOS release is going to be macOS 21 instead of macOS 11, that we are getting something related to the number 21 (not just the year), or something huge.

Anyways cheers for the joke.

Thanks! And I have seen pictures of the Apple bike jersey. It was beautiful, well, it was also worn a lot, and had a few stains, but 'it happens'. I've got tons of beer, taco, and special edition jerseys, and would covet an Apple jersey like it was made of mithril.

Would you be able to share some of those pics"?
