Does anyone else wonder why Apple didn't make a big deal (or any deal) about finally reaching 3GHz 2 years after Apple's promise. It just seems like something Apple would have done, something like "And today we're finally reaching the 3GHz mark we promised 2 years ago!"

It was span into 'the fastest Mac so far'.

Since the switch to Intel, the Ghz should become more irrelevant, as the field is levelled more and more - after all it's not how much you have, but what you do with it (Tiger/Leopard) that's important. :)

Why would a company brag about failing to achieve its goals on time?

What? Do you mean there's gonna be no Powerbook G5 except for the macrumors member? Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Maybe we'll get one prototype on eBay in 10 years.

And it will be called "Powerbook G5 - Flamethrower of the Lap".

I side with the previous posters that they avoided the topic - too sensitive a subject to make jokes about. Perhaps they are worried folks don't have a strong sense of humor when it comes to gigahertz ..... (insert joke about 'gigglehertz'....)

Well since the current computers are faster than a 3GHz G5 would/could have been anyhow, who cares? Call them 1 GHz machines for all I care. As long as it's fast and brings "da goodz". ;)
