Steve Jobs invited a handful of developers on stage at the WWDC keynote to show off their latest apps. The last of the invitees was Aron Anderson who demo'ed his "Orbit" satellite simulator. It was a short but visually stunning demo. Does anyone know if any version of it is available for download? A wallpaper version called Freefall will be coming out soon, but I wonder if Orbit itself is available.

Some info on "Freefall" aka "Orbit"

Hi Guys,

The program that you are talking about is actually called "Freefall". It won an award at the WWDC 2004 http://developer.apple.com/wwdc/ada/2004winners.html

But that is all that I've been able to find out about it. No website for the company (Advanced Analytic Systems design), no info on the program.

Please let me know if you find out anything more.

I'd love to have this, just to play with. Not sure if it's be a good screensaver for my powerbook, though - lots o' CPU and OpenGL usage would be my guess.

Installed and paid for. Excellent, excellent app and screen saver! Doesn't really do anything, but it's great fun to watch!

DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!

Now my System Prefs for screen saver won't load. I'm out of town shortly and will fix it when I get back, but be forewarned. It might have nothing to do with this, but the timing is really suspicious!

Edit: just dragged the file out of /Library/Screen Savers to fix. Crashes each and every time if left in Screen Savers when prefs is brought up.

worked fine for me. but then i dont have the full version so maybe its a bug in the FULL registered version?

I actually downloaded this file yesterday from ExtremeMac while I was looking for skins/cases for my 4G iPod (which I won from iTMS!). I thought I would check it out later because it looked similar to the Orbit app that I was interested in. Turns out, Freefall is the Orbit app!

JSW, I didn't have any trouble with the install. I'd recommend you remove and reinstall.

The app is pretty neat really. I think the splash screen where you have to enter your reg code or "try" is kindy cheesy, but the app itself is nice. I don't understand all the options yet, but it is fun to play with.
