mwsf and other macworld expos are the big ones, so i never expect big things at wwdc, but when something does get released on the hardware side, i am both surprised and happy

it's a software developers conference, not a hardware showcase

but i expect one of these:

12" macbook pro
12" macbook
ultra thin laptop
mac tablet
pro desktop
apple iPhone
new ipod

and for software, which this is mostly about:

leopard
leopard with boot camp built in
apple's version of parallels
official announcement and demo of cs3 suite, or part of it
quark

mwsf is the only really big one left. I'd say WWDC has taken second place at this point. Paris is always a let down, and Boston/New York are dead or might as well be.

Paris did get the iMac G5 announcement a couple of years ago. And since the Keynote was cancelled at pretty short notice last year to be replaced with a special event two weeks later, I do wonder whether perhaps the Nanos should have been released at last year's.

are you kidding?

Last year was a real hard one.. it my first WWDC when i was really into Apple and all we got was some news about intel, and it seemed like a bad thing and no new Macs or iPod, but this year its set up to be a great WWDC i think. i'm ready for someone new iPods and Mac Pros

the only way it will be bad in my book is if they do not update the iMac:(

WWDC will be all about the Leopard preview. Hopefully Leopard will be good enough to make this WWDC worth waiting for.
from the rumor of the new features, nothing to shocking to go crazy about

No, he's not kidding. With the current landscape, MWSF is the biggest Apple event of the year, and WWDC is second. MWNY no longer exists, and Apple doesn't attend MWB.

By the way, Leopard is being previewed, so there is no way that this WWDC will be as boring as last year's, even if there are no other announcements.

(And 63dot, your predictions are way off the money)

Last year's WWDC wasn't that boring...the Intel announcement was a big thing for Apple.

There has been a lull in the pro lines for too long now, though. SOMETHING has to be released at WWDC!

Don't we all wish! I think the only big things are going to be the Mac Pro and Leopard. If we're lucky, a new enclosure or something for the MBP.

He expects one of those things - so the Pro Desktop (Mac Pro) will probably happen...

WWDC is for developers. If you are not a Mac developer, expect nothing. Apple is under no obligation to wow you with anything or introduce anything.

Apple is promising Leopard information so developers can get started.

Now, I know that WWDC has given the public new products in the past, and probably will on Monday, but they aren't obliged to, and if you don't expect anything, then you will not be disappointed.

WWDC 2003 gave us the G5.

I am expecting one hardware announcement. Either the Merom Mac Book Pro, or the Core 2 Duo Mac Pro alongside a very, very lengthy Loepard demo.

It won't be boring. No way!

The only reason last year was boring was because Apple only told use about a big plan.. intel was a HUGE move but didn't really effect anything currently being sold by Apple.. and Apple could not say intel is great but today we are releasing a new PPC chip or G5 in a PB/iBook/Mac Mini as it would have been over shadowed by intel.

having been with microsoft developers network for years, cisco academy, a microsoft networking teacher, a computer engineering phd student, and an apple inc. tech, i will confess that i was never, for a second, more in the know than anybody here...and i will freely admit that

i thought for sure, apple would have a cell phone in 2005...i was wrong

the predictions for a cube back a ways seemed totally implausible...but when it happened, then i thought it would sell wildly...but it bombed

apple keeps things under wraps pretty well, even among those who work as tech, engineers, and salespeople for them

i guess anything can happen next week...and lets hope it does...let's get that quad xeon mac pro, let's get a leopard far beyond our expectations, and let's get that killer apple cell phone

i will totally be glad for apple and for me :)

I want bigger screen res on the MBP!

It's SO crappy that Dell has a 1920 x 1200 on several 15" but Apple cannot make one!!!!

If I get this I will get a loan for the MBP!

they could, they just choose not to until the OS is resolution independent otherwise stuff would be way too small.

If they plan to introduce GPS and "Maps" then that would be a excellent thing to release at WWDC. Maybe we will see the first few BT GPS units for developers and Leopard...
