When you purchase OS X I believe you're allowed to install it on 3 computers correct? My question is, when you buy a new computer (say MBP) are you allowed to install *that* version of X on your other computer (say iMac)?
Just not sure what the official license policy is.
Thanks

no

the one that comes with your mbp wont work on other macs as there is a hardware check

there are a single liscense and a family pack for osx. the single is one, the family pack is good for 5 installs

The family pack allows for 5 installations. I think the normal retail is only for one.
Supplied system restore discs are for the machine they came with only.
