X-Plane oddness

X-Plane original and Airliner (most recent versions, 9.55) are behaving oddly on my iPhone 4. When I launch either app the splash screen comes on with the screen rotated one way, but then the app running is rotated in the other direction.

I have attached screenshots to illustrate. This isn't really a major problem, but is just odd!
