I have been saving several folders that contain some of my best photos to an external hard drive, and an X shows at the left top corner of several of the folders in the external hard drive. If I open these folders to look at the photos inside it seems that all are fine, but I have no idea what the "X" means. I searched on the internet trying to figure what the problem is, but was unsuccessful. Does anybody know what the X means?

Thank you in advance for your response (s).

Hi there.

Upon researching it appears that the 'X' you describe may be the 'Cancel' button it displays when you're in the process of copying a folder/file in Finder. It sounds like the 'X' graphic is stuck. Try ejecting your external HD and unplugging it, relaunching Finder (from the :apple: menu, then 'Force Quit...'), and then plugging your HD in again. That should clear it up, but if it doesn't, try a full reboot.

Thank you. I will try your suggestions.

P.S. Restarted the iMac and that solved the problem. Thanks to you I can relax now!
:)
