X11 problem

I had X11 2.6.3 in my OS X 10.7.3. When I saw x11 2.7.1 available I went to the website and downloaded it thinking it would update the x11. But now I have two copies of x11, 2.6.3 and 2.7.1

2.7.1 icon is named XQUARTZ.

What should I do? I am unable to delete the older version because "it is required by Mac OS X".
