Is this direct x11? Is this Mac OS X version 11? Is this Mac OS XI? Please enlight me

As I understand it is a UNIX thing that provides a visual user interface for some programs that use it.
As I remember, for example, Open Office for Mac OS X required the installation of X11.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4S: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

GIMP also uses X11.

It is the X Window System, the standard Unix GUI.

It is used by applications programmed against standard Unix GUI APIs, not Apple proprietary or portable ones mapping to Apple.
