Hi all,
In an attempt to save myself the $100 I'd have to spend for the Xbox Wireless Network Adapter, I'm trying to connect my Xbox 360 using a 50-foot long CAT5e cable to connect it to my Airport Extreme base station's (the older model's) ethernet port. Unfortunately, with that setup, my Xbox fails the IP Confirmed test. I did pass the test by connecting my DSL modem directly into my console, but then I'd have to constantly switch cables back and forth to run Xbox live. Is there anyway I can have my Xbox connected to the Internet using the base station's ethernet port? Do I need to reconfigure something, open ports, etc? I also have a Linksys BEFSR41 DSL router; could that be used to make this setup work? I couldn't find any specific google hits that addressed this problem, so I'm hoping someone here could help me out.
Also, when I first connected my 360 to the Airport, I accidentally plugged the ethernet cable into the base station's WAN port. Did that potentially damage my console, or did that simply muck up the Internet settings? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
