xbox 360 cam for powerbook

I recently bought the xbox 360 live vision cam for my powerbook, but when I plug it in nothing happens and I cannot even find it on my computer. i heard the xbox cam works as soon as it is plugged in, so what am i doing wrong? help!!

In iChat (for example), open preferences, video, and see if you can select the camera.
