So I was shopping around for a webcam at J&R, perusing the very decent assortment of merchandise, when I asked a man working there which ones he would recommend for a mac.

He shook his head emphatically and said that *none* of the ones I was looking at would work with a mac, and that the only ones that would were a pair of quite old and cheap looking webcams that had been shoved over in the corner.

This saddened me, but I remembered reading about the xbox 360 webcam a a few days earlier, and about how it worked well with the mac.

So I decided to go out on a limb and buy it for my 1.2 ghz ibook g4.

This thing works *beautifully*.

You plug it in and it is instantly recognized and starts working. It has the same (or better?) specs as the original external isight (not necessarily the same build quality I would guess though), and has better quality than the built in isights in the macbooks and macbook pros.

It's small, cheap (40$), and has great specs.

The only downside is manual adjustment for focusing and doesn't pick up sound. (although the ibooks have included microphones so that doesn't matter much)

I'm sure alot of people knew about this already, but I just wanted to verify that this is in fact a *great* buy. No hassle, cheap, and good quality.

Hell has frozen over completely.
