XCode made 5 Gigs disappear

Hi, I was edtiting a file in XCode 3.0, I had 10GB to spare and the file was just 10MB. I got a message saying space was running low, so I deleted some things thinking XCode just needed space to run.

After all the editing was done the file was still arond 10MB but I only have 5GB of hard drive space left, and this includes about 2.5GB which I deleted in the middle of editing.

So where has that 7.5GB gone? It is absurd. Are there XCode temp files or something?

OK, well this issue has been resolved. I used OmniDiskSweeper. It's insane, but in compiling my 33 Mb program it created 5 GB worth of hidden files.
