Help me wrap my head around this QA miracle... how did a value getting its front chopped off even make it past whatever laughable 'testing' process they have? It seriously makes you wonder what IDE Apple developers are using in their office... I guess it's definitely NOT Xcode...

That's pretty bad! Makes me happy that my exposure to Xcode is primarily with command line tools.

Exactly, makes me wonder too. Xcode 26 is total garbage in more ways than one (and I'm using Xcode since version 2). For starters, they eliminated a basically essential option to open a file in a new window tab with a single click. wtf. (And don't even get me started about the useless "Tabs" they introduced several versions ago as opposed to the normal useful tabs, which they rebranded as "Window Tabs").

Not just Xcode but other parts of the more recent releases begin to make me wonder if Apple has gotten too big and has lost its vision of purpose. There seems to be a trend towards too many individual point-fixes or changes causing counter-productive side effects. As a retired developer myself, it makes me think this may be something that happens when developers loose focus and are not thinking of the end-purpose of their work. Things like this begin to happen when engineers are more concerned with protecting their positions than with creating something 'awesome' and useful.
