Hey,

I just received the XDR Pro display and I am not happy at all. The picture looks crystal clear but its curved towards the outside. Not inwards like an actual curved screen but it looks visually like the middle of the screen is more in my face then the left and right side which seem wrapped to the back. Obviously my display panel is straight so I hope there is a software / setting solution to fix this and 'straighten this out'
Please help as this is making me nauseas and I can't work on it.

Thanks a lot !

Did you switch from a curved screen? I've never experienced this on my XDR.

It could be that you're sitting too close. The biggest weakness of the XDR is its off-axis vignetting which is increased a lot the closer you sit, and that could be what your brain is reading as curvature?

I think it did take me a while to get used to such a big screen, but most of my problems went away when I got a deeper desk and was able to put the XDR further away.

Yes I have a 34" Curved screen before. But the Curve was that the center of the screen was the furthest away. Now this has something like a fish-eye lense effect. it Sort of an inverted curved screen if that makes any sense?
I sit far away from the screen so that can't be it.
Do I need to reset any settings or something? I have restarted it, changed the pre-sets, resolution etc but nothing helped. It's really giving me a headache to type on this.

Have you tried using a ruler or a piece of paper to confirm there's a physical curvature there and that your mind isn't compensating for what it was used to?

I agree. It sounds like you are too close to the screen.
It's likely that you are at a similar distance that you are used to with the old curved display.

You may need several sessions to acclimate to the different screen geometry.
Limit your time with the screen for now, slowly adding more time each day.

Or, perhaps it was a mistake to move away from a curved screen:
Return the new display, and go back to your curved screen.

Just a question, do you wear glasses by any chance?

Mine are very thick and in my peripherals it gives the appearance of a slight warp (a real pain when I’m hanging TV’s, they always look crooked to my eye but are even according to the level).

It must be me. Just asked my wife to sit in front of it and she said it's totally straight and doesn't see a curve at all. I changed the background picture which helped a little bit but I guess it will just take time to get used it

Yes, some glasses have quite visible aberration/distortion at the edges.

Damn, I'm literally seeing the same. What a weird effect. I've been using a Samsung curved ultrawide monitor (Odyssey G9) and today I connected the XDR, could that be the main reason? Is my brain used to the curved monitor? Did you figure out the issue?

The issue is in your head, seriously. There is nothing you can do besides getting used to it. I still see a slight curve but in the beginning it almost made me motion sick to look at the screen which is thankfully gone now. The best you can do is keep using it and over time you'll forget it and it's the new norm.
Too bad there isn't an app for that ;)

This often happens temporarily when switching from a curved monitor back to a flat one. It’s just the way your brain is perceiving it. It will pass.
