I find ipreview has some limit to its purpose and I chance upon Xee which appears more inituitive. And I don't like iphoto.

Has anyone try before and can testify that its much better and offer more function than ipreview. Below is the link:

ipreview is a non-extant program as far as I can tell. Perhaps you mean Preview.

As far as what's better, it's impossible to say because you haven't stated where Preview falls short for you and "better" is subjective in the first place. Xee is free, so why don't you download and try it yourself?

I tried Xee a year or two ago...it worked ok, but it insidiously and without consent associated itself with a bunch of different file types. I can't remember what all now, but it was like I double-clicked a Quicken file and Xee tried to open it.

I emailed the Xee developers to ask what was up with that and they replied to the effect "that's what Xee does...if you don't like it you can manually go in and change the associations back"....so I deleted Xee.

Gee, thats not what I like either. Thanks for info.

I am using JustLooking http://chipmunkninja.com/tag/justlooking it works beautiful. You can set it up to open up in Slide-Show mode and it displays all the files in your directory without fiddling...

And, yes, it lets you customize the file-associations.

I use it because it offers ton of functionality that Preview don't. E.g. something as simple as having "zoom in to fit window" to be default when you view pictures. And being able to scroll through pictures in a folder like you do in Windows.

And don't bitch about the file associations. At least it has the functionality to set all the file associations in its settings, so you don't have to bring up the Inspector for +30 file formats and set them to open in Xee.

Above sounds good.

Just to clarify, which program are you refering, Xee or chipmunkninja posted by Pinky.

I find Xee great too and haven't had any issues with the file associations- however also have Sequential and SimpleComic depending on what needs viewing.

Crazy as it sounds but I think Xee also renders PDF's better on my MBP- can't imagine any reason why but some manga just looks better on the screen. Also the interface for Preview is a bit tiresome/messy and the ability to organise bookmarks either obscure or non-existent. Personal experience but third-party does it better on this one.

So I'm not the only one find Preview is falling short. Heard so much about Mac being intuitive, sigh. I don't use Bridge or iphoto. I just organised my photos in different folders under Finder.

So when using Preview, everytime have to Command +A to view all. If just view a few in succession, you still have to highlight the photos. If you just click on that photo, it shows only that photo and cursor key don't allow you to scrol forward or backwards. Just wonder why can't. Its one photo at a time. If press space bar, you can scroll by cursor but stop short at last photo and will continue in zig-zag manner instead of succession. That mean jumping the file no. Quite stupid. Is Job hiring the best designer or one fresh from school? Windows has better edge than Preview.

Someone asked earlier why I don't like Preview, so above is short answer. Bad enough that I must search something that make better sense than Preview.

I just downloaded Xee. Great program as far as scrolling from one pic to another. But realised don't have exif info. Is there anyway to get this to form part of tool bar?
