Long story short. I've been a Comcast/Xfinity subscriber for years. Until recently, I was able to connect to their secure Wifi hotspots, justifiably avoiding unsecure public wifi. Recently, I can no longer connect to any Xfinity networks outside of my home Wifi. I dare not talk to the black hole of uselessness of Comcast support. I don't think it's a Mac problem, although I have not been able to connect using my iPhone either. Here's my question... when I go into the Wifi settings on my Mac, scroll to the bottom, and click on the Advanced tab, this screenshot is what I get. What is this?

I see the two secure Xfinity hotspots (neither of which I can connect to), and I see one network with no name. I can forget those networks and uncheck "auto-join," but none of this solves my problem.

The basic issue is I work a lot at a cafes and I'm trying to avoid public wifi. Yes I have tried using VPN's but I don't like the battery draining it causes.

Any suggestions, solutions, or ideas? Thanks.

IIRC, the Comcast certs for secure Wi-Fi expire every summer. You might try deleting your existing cert and re-installing a new one from the Comcast web site.

To delete the old cert:
Settings > General > Device Management > and then click on "-" on the Xfinity cert

To install a new cert, follow the directions here.
