I've heard a lot of rage about Xgl/Beryl on Linux. I want to give it a go, but I don't want to repartition my MacBook Pro to install Linux as I don't have enough room for Mac OS + Windows + Linux (I currently have Mac OS + Windows + Shared partitions).

I've heard that it's possible to install a Desktop Environment such as GNOME in Apple's implementation of X11 (X11 1.1.3 - XFree86 4.4.0 / X11R6.6) as Mac OS X is based on BSD Unix (obviously). Is there any way to install GNOME with Xgl/Beryl in Mac OS X too?

gnome is not the base of xgl, so install gnome will not give u xgl.

So is it possible to get Beryl working on OS X at all?

I'm currently playing around with the idea, I'll post back with progress
