Hi there.
I just have a few questions about xgrid, because I don't quite understand what it is and how you can use it. From what I do know, it's looks to be a way of distributing tasks to other computers on the 'grid' for them to complete those tasks, then send the results back to the master computer.
If this is how it works, is xgrid mainly for intensive computing tasks for scientists etc. or are there other 'consumer' applications that can take advantage of it. At home I have a 2GHz Core Duo iMac & two 2GHz MacBooks. That's a lot of processing power and I was wondering if I could use it to encode movies etc using all the other computers. At the moment I'm putting up with so so quality because I don't want to wait hours and hours for videos to encode.
I would also be interested in other applications thats may be able to take advantage of xgrid. Thanks in advance
