xlsx files that won't delete

help: i have 2 xlsx files that showed up on my desktop. no idea where they came from. they will not open. trash tells me "they cannot be deleted". they also cannot even be moved around the desktop, or put out of sight in a junk file. anybody with an idea whats up and how to fix it?

Relaunch "Finder" and they should disappear. I don't know the technical details, but they are something created temporarily when you are working in Excel.
