*** NO SOLUTION AS OF YET
Hey all, so I've been trying a lot of different methods, and figured I would post failures here to maybe save you all some time.
I am using an ISO of windows XP, reFit boot loader. Mac OS 10.7.5. MBP mid 2010.
Failed Attempts:
1. Bootable XP USB via unetbootin and ISO
2. Extract ISO contents directly onto USB
3. Convert ISO to IMG (hdiutil), unmount usb (diskutil), and extract IMG (sudo dd if=//Users/xxxx/Desktop/win.img of=/dev/rdisk1s1 bs=1m) (http://blog.tinned-software.net/create-bootable-usb-stick-from-iso-in-mac-os-x/)
4. Edit BootCamp plist file to allow creating bootable usb, use ISO as source for boot camp
5. Create mini install partition, extract iso onto partition
6. Create mini partition, extract iso onto partition via Unetbootin
7. Run XP ISO in VMware Fusion and install XP onto new partition from inside VM
8. (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1557480/)
Basically, I have not been able to boot XP Installer from USB no matter what I tried. Nor from a tertiary mini partition.
*** For those that may not know, bootcamp 4 does not support XP, only windows 7 and 8. And yes, I've searched everywhere. Have yet to find a NO CD way of doing this.
