XP laptop as external monitor?

Is there any way to use my XP laptop as a external monitor for my iMac? It's running 10.7 Lion.

I have a ethernet cable.

Yes. Laptops generally do not support display input, and certainly not over ethernet.

You could use VNC or something like it

To access/control you Mac from the XP Laptop. I am not sure that is what you want.

It will not support display input, regardless of the cable. I simply mentioned that about ethernet since it will not carry video under any circumstance.
