Hi,

I have tried searching all over the place, but maybe im searching for the wrong thing... anyways here it goes:

I have a windows xp machine where i have simple file sharing enabled. I am trying to access this share with my imac.

I have added the workgroup of my windows machine under Network Preferences>Advanced>WINS. This seems to have an effect as now the windows machine shows up in finder under "shared".

However, when i click on it to connect to it, it shows up "connection failed". I have also tried connecting to server using cmd-k (smb://IP_ADDRESS/SHARE) - to no avail :(

whenever i try to connect to the win machine it shows the error -

Connection failed
The server "SERVER" may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.

I have checked the windows and norton firewall (disabled both) but still no luck!

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks :)

EDIT: i've also installed bonjour for windows!
