XP sp3, Vista or Windows 7 in bootcamp on MBP?

What Windows OS has best firewire support/performance ?

I am facing some serious problem with my Echo Audiofire 4 firewire audio card.

although in macosx works just fine when i reboot to win xp sp3 and try to playback audio from the device my MBP freezes.

What do you recommend?

Windows 7 is likely to be the best as far as device support goes. I wouldn't really recommend boot camping anything else.
