Hello there! I’m pretty new to the forums, and I actually created this account to see if anyone can solve the issue I’m having;
I’m trying to install OS X Tiger on my Beige PowerMax G3 using XPostFacto. However, I keep getting the message that’s in the image.

This is using a retail copy of Tiger, and I even got the same warning on a retail copy of Panther. How would I even go about fixing it? I’m assuming it’s more complicated than just typing in “install extensions” into the terminal.

One trick I've used to get OS X installed is to use target disc mode, or else physically move the drive into a different machine, do the install, then move it back. I don't have any experience with the G3 though, so reading the XPF documentation or searching for that error phrase (or what the log files show) would be my next move. Good luck and let us know what you find.

I actually did find something interesting: the L2 cache isn’t being seen at all. It has a PowerLogix G4 upgrade in it, and apparently I need the PowerLogix G3/G4 Cache Profiler software that would’ve come with the CPU. When I found a version compatible with my processor, it still didn’t work. I would tell it to enable the L2 cache and restart, and it just wouldn’t enable it.
