For those who upgraded from the XR to the 12, what is the real-life battery comparison?

I would say the battery life seems a little better than the XR. But not the same leap from going from say a 7 to XR

Also compared to a 2 year old XR, the increase in battery life to the 12 is noticeable. I’d say it’s at the point now where it always lasts all day, even under very heavy use

I compared the iPhone12 to my Xr specifically in terms of battery life.

YouTube tests indicate the 12 lasts a lot longer than a brand new XR (and longer than the 11 even!) which I found very surprising but good, and another reason to upgrade.

However, recent tests indicate this 12’s battery life is not that great, compared to the 11 at least. 1 hr less than the 11, with 4g only. If the 12 is allowed to switch to 5G, battery life gets much worse! below.

my personal test indicated that when my Xr with 90% battery life (2 years old) died, the 12 had 12% battery left.

Not so great I guess, given if I had a new Xr, it would probably do better than the 12?
And the 11 even better?

this was a real life test. I used both phones at the same time - made similar video calls with FaceTime, listened to podcasts, browsed same videos etc.
Brightness not too high- as I would actually keep it (online tests go with very high brightness, which favours OLED displays

The regular iPhone 12 lasted just 8 hours and 25 minutes over AT&T's 5G network. Last year's iPhone 11 lasted a whopping 11 hours and 16 minutes over 4G. To compare, we switched the iPhone 12 to 4G-only, and it endured for 10 hours and 23 minutes.
