its never happened before the other day not long after I installed the beta but maybe its a hardware fault, any ideas?

basically I take a lot of photos with my iPhone, including often taking pics on the golf course. no idea why I do as they are all pretty similar but anyway....

the other day I take my iPhone out of my pocket and open the camera, and it seems to focus and a second later refocus and keeps doing this in a loop. pressing the camera button makes no difference and no pic is taken. switching it to video, it keeps doing it, maybe its not actually refocusing but its what it looks like, switch it to portrait and it is fine. back to picture and away it goes.

now it was very bright but ive taken bright pics before and it was pretty hot but my phone didnt feel hot.

my first thought was the camera was failing. I quit the app and reopened, the same. I restarted the phone and it was fine all day. I took far too many pics just to push it.

couple of days later, ive taken pics in the meantime, take my phone out, ironically on the same hole it is a spectacular view, go to camera, and it does the same again. everything the same. again a restart fixes it.

is it an iOS 14 bug or is my camera failing?

Exact same issue happened yesterday. What’s frustrating is I was in a rush taking photos to send over and camera being buggy isn’t helping Me either way. A restart does fix the problem, however temporary it might be.

Before anyone, yes, I know it is a beta.

Not a hardware fault, but a known software bug that occurs across a variety of scenarios across multiple devices specific to this most recent beta release. Restart usually fixes the issue.

I have an 8 Plus and found out that if I'm wearing my Air Pods and try to use the camera is does that focusing problem. When I remove the Air Pod the camera works fine. If I open the camera without Air Pod in it works fine. If I open the camera without the Air Pods on then put them on the camera works fine.

Yes I’d reported this in the main iOS 14 thread as well. Restart fixes this. Known bug!

May be a silly questions but make sure there is no magnets on your case near the camera, it interferes with the OIS. I had this issue for weeks until I found out it was my case.
