XS Max haptic feedback randomly occurs when swiping up to go to the home screen. Is it a bug?

When I swipe up from an app to go to the home screen, there are often times where I feel haptic feedback and other times where I don’t. It is inconsistent and so I can’t figure out if it’s unexpected behavior. I can’t tell whether if I’m accessing the app switcher unintentionally which is where haptic feedback always occurs. I haven’t had an iPhone X layout phone before, so does anyone else experience it?
