Good day,
Is the XS Max a lemon or was I unlucky?

I ordered the XS Max and received it in mid-December and used it for a week where often after long use or right after charging, the screen would become unresponsive and the phone was very warm, even after multiple reboot and even reset through Itunes, the screen worked but was not responsive to any input until after a few hours to at most 24 hours, then everything was back to normal for a little while. We proceeded to exchange it and received a replacement yesterday. This morning after being on the charger for the night the XS Max was warm enough to almost burn skin and was dead, no way to restart it. I have contacted Apple but I was looking at how it is for you, do you like the XS Max? Is it working for you? Was I really unlucky and got two lemons? I'm really tempted to give up and go for an Android at this point even after owning several generations of Iphone and with a lot of apps and stuff on iTunes, my iphone 7 plus was rock solid and a great phone but I'm starting to dislike the XS Max.

PS I always use Apple charger and cable and I have the XS Max in a Defender case, younger daughter has a few games on it for when we travel, at the price the case is an obligation.

Thanks for your feedback!

Have you tried to setup the max as a new device? If restored from Backup it could be a corrupted file or app causing these issues. If the phone checks when setup as new, tru to restore. If the problem persists you know the phone is good.

I would try the setup as new also. I got the Max at launch and it had terrible LTE and WIFI connectivity issues, the screen would often freeze so I returned it and got a Note 9. While the Note 9 is an awesome phone I couldn’t stand android, so I sold it and got an IPhone 8 Plus. After being on the 8 plus for awhile I grew to miss Face ID and the larger screen of the Max, so I decided to give the Max another shot and this one has been flawless for a week now. If your phone displays the same symptoms after setting up as new I would take it to an Apple Store. I feel my first Max was among a bad batch. Good luck!!
