Never had this kind of particularly difficult choice until now... The best two phones (alongside OnePlus 7 Pro) for ~700$ are Xs Max (used market, mint condition) and 11 (new).
I've watched many YT videos with camera comparison and they seem pretty similar to me except 11 having that ultrawide mode and night mode but I'm not that much of a nocturnal photographer
On the other side, build quality wise Xs Max feels and look more premium while 11 is still a good looking phone but a little bit chubby. Now we can find Xs Max mint condition 256GB for around 750$ and 11 128GB brand new for 750$.
In battery department 11 is dominating but is that difference a drastic one?
In CPU department A13 is, of course, faster than A12 but they're both A BEAST of a CPU.
11 have LCD with low ppi but super clear whites from what I saw while OLED screens vary from pink tint, yellow tint, blue tint, color shift to perfect white...
Xs Max has slimmer bezels but that's not really a concern because 11 have that large screen and it will not be so noticeable after all.
