iPhone XS Max XS Max speaker phone problem

My Dad has an XS Max and always uses speaker phone. All of a sudden he can't tap on the speaker option. I had him play some music and the speaker works fine. All of a sudden when he hits the audio button it gives no options. Any idea what setting needs changed?

You didn't mention any specific t/s so first:
* Update to iOS 17.5.1
* Restart the phone

If those don't resolve it, have him call/chat AppleCare to get a remote diagnostic. Could be a hardware issue.

What iOS version is installed?
Have you tried turning off leaving it off for about 1 to 2 minutes then turn it back on?
Has the iPhone experienced any physical drop/fall?
Any noticeable physical damage?
Is any bluetooth audio device connected to the iPhone?
