There’s an update for the YouTube app this evening and I was wondering if they’ve added support for the Max?

What the hell do you want? Looks fine to me. Larger screen, larger content. Why should they have to completely redraw their app for a single screen? Tbh I haven’t noticed any difference in those apps compared to others.

Haha I want the app to support 2688 X 1242. Not too much to ask! I would try it if I had the XS Max.

Hopefully they will soon. As well as the other apps.

Videos ain’t gonna be uploaded in that resolution. Also bear in mind most videos are in 16:9 format and my math is terrible but I’d image the non ultra-wide resolution is still 1080. Numbers are just that. Numbers. Both apps look great on the phone.

nope, they take their sweet time typically. it looks horrendous and makes the UI unpleasant like with the other blown up apps, but what can you do, no alternative really.

I have some videos shot in 4K with my XS Max that I’ve uploaded to YouTube which plays them at 1080 as the top resolution choice. I can’t tell any difference watching them on my XS Max. I can definitely tell a difference on my 60” television but not my small XS Max screen.

Tbh the display quality and having an OLED screen makes far more difference nowadays.

Was a time when Apple users weren’t so obsessed with numbers. How times change.

The update that I see from 11/11/18 was the YouTube TV app not the YouTube app.

It’s definitely a blown up version meaning not optimized for the XS Max or even the XR, Same goes for Facebook and Messenger

i don't see what you are talking about....

FB-Messenger and you tube take up my whole screen on my max

am i missing something to your point ?
curious

I assume they mean not optimised for the resolution or something daft like that. Some people are never satisfied.

yeah i see nothing wrong with any of these apps on my max and im 53 so with reading glasses its really HI Def lol
