Xserve question

I have no clue about macs. never had one until recently but i never use it. pretty much a paper weight. Anyway, we just ordered a Xserve. we are a windows xp network, but just recently purchased some macs for our Art classes. we purchased the xserve so we can use it for imaging the new macs. my question is, can i connect this xserve to my kvm switch? i have a Dell kvm that uses windows keyboard and mouse and a analog video adapter. Or do i need to use only a mac keyboard and mouse?
