Was at Fry's picking up something else today and noticed they are selling the XtremeMac Tango Air Airplay for only $99. I have been looking at Airplay speakers for awhile now and this is the cheapest airplay device I have seen. It is a little big, but great for the price (listed as $228 on Amazon).

If you have been looking you may want to take a look at it.

They just dropped the price to $88 here in Indiana. That's just a crazy price for an AirPlay speaker. Fry's is prominently displaying the ad on their homepage too.

did you buy it?

if so, how do you like it?

i am seriously thinking about picking on up.

i have a little jbl flip right now as a temporary fix until i find something i want

I was at Fry's today picking up a bluetooth usb dongle which was 20 bucks, I then saw this speaker which was $88 so I quickly ditched the dongle and picked it up

Really nice AirPlay speaker. I have a small mini server which has iTunes always open so I can control that with my iPhone running Apple's remote app.

Why The Price Dumping?

Fry's seems to me an outlet of choice for more than some manufacturers who price dump products before a major upgrade, standards change, feature incompatibility, whatever. Yet, demand for the XtremeMac Tango evidently is not enough to generate sufficient sales at $99, so Fry's dropped the price over 10% more, to $88. Amazon is down to $185, but rarely do prices vary that drastically.

This device looks great to me, too. I don't mind having last year's model, but does anyone know what appears to be the reason for price dumping the AirPlay version? Incidentally, I have seen it sold under the names of Imation and two of its subsidiaries, Memorex and XtremeMac.

I'd just like to know a bit more before laying down even $88.

Price just went down to $69 at Fry's which is ridiculous. :D

Going to pick one up after work today.

I just picked one up. Sound quality is pretty good and the setup was easier than I thought it would be. If it was sold at its $300 MSRP, I would have been more critical, but at $70 it is a very good deal.

I bought a couple of these, one for my office and one for my home. The sound quality is great but the wifi signal is horrible. Unless your WAP is in the same room as the Tanga, fuggedaboutit!
