I'm a PC user and thinking about buying a mac but i watch a lot of divx movies and stuff and was wondering if it was possible to install codecs to watch them?

Also is it possible to setup a mac as a file server and acceess it from a windows system? Thanks!

Yes, you can get the DivX codec from www.divx.com. I also recommend the 3ivx codec from www.3ivx.com which helps play some other formats (notably Xvid). Also if you're familiar with VideoLAN on Windows you'll be happy to know that there's a Mac version of it available, and there's also a version of MPlayer.

Setting up a Mac as a server is really easy, the Sharing Preferences has 3 different types of servers ready for you to turn on with one click, the Samba server is probably what you want (functions like a shared folder on a Windows system).
