Hi folks :)

I've been trying to view a .avi (with VLC) when it popped up and said I needed the XVid codec.

So I tried various ways to download and drop the component into the Quicktime Library to no avail.

I also tried to install various XVid converters all of which didn't work.

So I have a vid which neither VLC, nor Quicktime, nor the DivX Player can run.

What to do??? (Incidentally I can't run it in Windows either).

I have never seen VLC ask for a codec and I have played literally thousands of files with it including those encoded xvid. I would think that file is totally messed up you could try a re-encode of it in Handbrake or Avidemux.

Sorry for the late reply, and you might have already figured it out, but if the video itself contained the message (it appeared in the video play window), then it was just SPAM.
The video did not contain the actual film or episode you wanted to view, it was just luring you to go somewhere.

I bet you already found another source, since .avi is a dying format anyway, and .mp4 and .mkv are much better ones bringing victory to the table.

And SPAMMERS, please feel free to add to this thread. Nothing will be done anymore to get rid of you anyway, it is more important to use the correct language than to get rid of spammers now. The regime has changed.
