Hello
I know that the free yahoo mail does not work with apple mail. But does anyone know any good workarounds that I dont have to download a whole new app for? like a plugin or something?

Yahoo mail does work for free, at least the UK one does. I've just set up my yahoo account in Mail using the same settings I've used in Thunderbird on my old Windows machine. See if that can help you!

pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk port 995 Pop account
smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk port 25 no SSL no login

You have to turn on POP3 access in Yahoo Mail's options on their website first though - then you're ready to rock!

will it work if i sign in on the english site and change it, then use pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk as my incoming mail server?

There's an app called YPOPs! that claims to be able to do this. It's primarily for Windows users, but apparently there is an OS X version as well. Installation seems a bit tricky, it's a bit old, and a forum thread a found suggests that a new issue may have developed in that last couple of weeks affecting all platforms that they are still working on fixing, but you may want to take a look at it.

Ha, forget the twenty bucks, save it for something useful. My Yahoo account is only good for spam and account details for useless forums I don't go to very often (not this one, of course). If anyone wants a gmail invite, give me a PM with a valid email address and I will send you one out. Either that or sign yourself up for a gmail account - it's fast to set up, both on the web and for a POP3 account.

Shame about the US not getting free POP3 access, but thems' the breaks.
