I own a yahoo account (about 8 years ago)... what do I need so that yahoo account pushs my email to my iphone? Is there any special yahoo account to be requested?

No, you dont need to do anything other than push Yahoo and type in your user and password on the phone.

But push email is sketchy and doesn't work right half the time.

Where do I configure it to do push??

There is no configuration options. If you setup the yahoo, push is automatic (at least it's supposed to be).

It barely works for me. Sometimes it's push, sometimes it's not.

Yes...IMAP and POP are fully supported by the iPhone
