how did i do this weekend? :) anybody else pwning yard sales?

Whoever gave up the EOS for two-bucks is a total idiot.

Depreciation doesn't apply to cameras. If you take care of them, they'll last decades.

Agreed. However, it sounds like someone just wants to get rid of an old technology. After all, it still uses film.

Very nice. This reminds me of the time when I was in about the 4th grade when I started to get into surfing, my granny bought me surfboard at a garage sale for $25. We bonded back up and took it to a shop to get a fin/leash for it and the guy offered us $900 on the spot for it. Garage sales can be places to pick up things really cheap.

yeah, film is kind of a pain, but it gets some great results that IMO digital can't copy. don't get me wrong - i'd rather have a digital any day over film.

and yeah, these were from 3 different yard sales :)

I found a complete set of 1912 Noritake tablewear a few weeks ago - and two of the pieces (in almost brand-new condition even after all this time) go for $60-$75 each on eBay.

I paid $5 for the whole thing.

Cha-ching.

haha nice... i just got a freaking BC RICH hardshell case for 15$.. obviously i'm going to cover up that name, but now my custom SG has a home for tour this august :) and i saved about 50 bucks !!

An iPod nano 4th Gen. for $10, guy said it was "Broken", it was on the recovery mode screen. I told the guy all he needed to do was restore it, and he said it's too late-he already bought his daughter a new one. I took it home and restored it, works perfect. I feel bad now.

If you feel bad then sell it to me.

In the 2001 video game (which I still play regularly online) Tribes 2 there is a game mode called "Hunters".

In this mode when a player is killed they drop a flag. You must collect as many flags as possible and return them to a central point called the Nexus. You get a bonus for returning more flags at the same time and returning 30 or 40 together can yield a game win.

When you kill a player with more than one flag, they drop all of their flags. If a player has a huge number of flags, the game announces a "YARD SALE" and all players are alerted to its location on the game display.

That is the only meaning which the worlds "Yard Sale" have ever held for me.
