Anyone tried Yellow Dog Linux on their PPC yet?
Of course, Mac OS X 10.5 is THE BEST OS out there, but I'm sure some of you like to play around with the not so obvious PPC OS alternatives just for fun.
Many Linux distro's are available in the x86 world, but us PPC users have been restricted in our choice.
The last time I used a Linux on a (PPC) Mac was YDL 2.2 in an iBook G3, and it worked remarkably well! Airport support et all was in there!
Now, on my Quad G5 I wanted to "erase and reinstall" anyway, so I thought: why not give YDL 5.0.2 a go on my PPC G5 Quad?
I wanted to see "Enlightenment 17" for myself, and TBH it's guite fun to play around with!
I know it is not a real substitute for Mac OS X Leopard with iLife etc. but it is good fun to play around with, and as it has a full working version of Open Office 2.0 inside, so it is usable too!
So, got a G-series PPC Mac doing nothing? Or have a partition left over... why not give YDL a chance and have some fun.
