Yeah, my turn now. :D
2006 Subaru Impreza, with a 5-speed, in Steel Gray Metallic. I should be able to pick it up tomorrow or Tuesday, once the loan is all set (we finalized the sale at the dealership after the credit union closed).
If you want a good deal on a new car, just go to a small dealership near the end of the summer, when they need to get rid of their stock from the preceding model year. Yay!
 
Honda Civic. So is it a WRX Mr C??? And are we going to see pictures??? Oh... and congratulations... isn't this your first car???
 
I priced one out the other night, and for a similar sticker price, The Civic EX (I wanted to match brakes and wheels) would have had these over the Scooby:
Better fuel efficiency (30/38 vs. 22/29)
An extra cubic foot of cargo room
almost an extra cubic foot of interior volume
Slightly wider track
telescopic steering column
about 300lbs less weight
split fold down rear seat (vs. only a pass-through)
ULEV-2 (vs. no mention of that for the Scooby)
However, the Subaru would have these over the Honda:
Power (140@6300/128@4300 vs. 173@6000/166@4400)
Brakes (10.8/10.3 vs 10.3/10.2, both have Electronic Brake Distribution)
Of course, the AWD must be mentioned, as I do live in a snowy part of the country. Pair that with some winter tires... :D

Anyways, both have side curtain airbags (which I just found out about now on the Scooby), 16" Alloys with nearly identical tires (P205/55 R16 89H on the Honda, 89V on the Scooby, the next speed rating up), and other stuff.

After comparing them like this, it's kind of eerie how similar they are on paper, and even in some of the pictures. I wonder how well the Civic turns in...

Danke.:D I had always admired them since I first found out about them right around when they started showing the Paul Hogan commercials in the US. My like for them was sealed once I drove my brother's '04 Impreza wagon. :D
 
The Elise couldn't have fit my instruments. :(
That ant it's more than twice what we paid, and the insurance is probably three times higher...
We started out looking at used cars (I thought we were looking to spend less than we did), and while we were at the Scooby Dealer, we looked at an '06, and I liked it. They wanted to get it off the lot, so we paid about $400 under invoice (about $16.9k). And thanks to my father co-signing on the loan with our credit union, the APR is only 4.99.
As for not testing the Civic, I wasn't particularly interested in it, and I doubt we could have gotten the same kind of deal on an EX (I'm done with rear drum brakes. :p)
 
Between the Elise or the Civic EX?

Well I was wrong on the price of the Elise. I thought it was $35k, but it's just over $50k from the nearest dealer.
For the Civic, it's $18,460 for the EX, before the destination charge, and $18,295 for the Scooby before the charge (dest. charges are $595/625). So it was probably a bit cheaper, considering equal deals.

He didn't need to... everyone knows how a Honda Civic turns in... sedately ;) don't want the falsies to fall out when you're going round a bend now. heheheh.

Unless you're very tall though... I'm a smidge under 6'4" and my head sticks out the top, should I ever roll one I'd leave a great smear. :D

Don't know about the Elises over there, but over here, our Elises have a Toyota engine, so they don't break :p


I want an Elise, but I'm probably too tall and fat to fit in one.

It's all saved in the sound proofing!

Also pick any metal panel on the Civic and apply gentle pressure with a single finger to the centre of the panel......boing!!

Open the front door and the (good looking) handle feels about as solid as the plastic lid on your coffee cup!!!

Drove mine for the first time in the rain a couple of days ago. Christ knows how but as the wipers change direction on their sweep you feel the 'jolt' through the clutch/accelerator pedals!!!!

The Civic could be a great car, but is built to such a tight budget.

Is is really that bad??? *salivates at the wealth of extra ammunition for my Anti-Honda crusade.* :p
 
I'm going to take some pictures tomorrow in its salt-covered glory. I hope it snows more Thursday than it did today, so I can do real Scoobnuts, rather than understeering in a big circle. :rolleyes:
